Eveleth Heritage Committee

Eveleth Heritage Committee is one of two Independent Councils of the Laurentian Chamber of Commerce.

The mission of the Eveleth Heritage Committee is to help maintain and expand the economic vitality of the community by supporting and promoting the preservation and interpretation of the culture, history, and heritage of Eveleth.

Co-Chairs are Esther Salmi and Chuck Morello

Meetings:

The Eveleth Heritage Committee meets on the Second Tuesday of each month at 12:00 Noon at the Eveleth Super 8 - Hwy 53. For more information, contact Bill Aho at the Super 8

Activities:

Following our October 2000 Visioning Session, we refocused our activity schedule. The following ongoing projects continue:

  • The History of Eveleth - We are checking our information so Please check back.
  • Searching for relatives or friends who used to live in Eveleth (this webpage is presently undergoing an update).
  • Annual Historic Preservation Award.
  • Historic Preservation Month Activities.
The following new projects have been added in recent years:
  • Eveleth Historic Blanket (available at Mineview in the Sky opens in May 2012 and Range Print Shop in Eveleth. )
  • Eveleth Heritage Post Cards (available at Mineview in the Sky { opens May 2012} and local stores)
  • Holiday Tour of Homes - (Cancelled for 2011)
  • Scholarship Program: There are two types of Scholarships
  • 1. Essay (click on the word Essay to get the application and information)
  • 2. Research (click on the word Research to get the application and information)
  • The application and information can be picked up at the Eveleth & Virginia Library, The school counselors office and the Chamber of Commerce office in Virginia.
  • Tour Brochure on "Captains' Homes and Immigrant Halls"
