SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FOR MERRITT DAY’S 2014
Saturday, August 2nd: 3rd Annual C0-ED KICK BALL TOURNAMENT at the South Grove field. $100.00 per team registration fee. Minimum of 3 women on the field at all times. 16 team maximum. Call 750-6282 or 780-6164 for information/registration. Must be 18 years or older to play. “Kick-off” Merritt Days with some old fashioned fun!
Sunday, August 3rd – Friday August 8th (No clues on Monday)
TREASURE HUNT clues start. Clues published in the local paper and posted at City Hall and the Mountain Iron Library daily. The hidden “treasures” are metal pieces clearly marked. Treasure hunt closes at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 11th, 2014. Bring the treasure to the City Hall for your prize.
Wednesday, August 6th:
5:30 p.m.: “POLKA IN THE PARK” Accordion music by George and Peg.
6:30 p.m.: “Puppet Show” in the park. Kids will learn, create and see a unique puppet show.
7:00 p.m.: Enjoy Cowboy Angel Blue Duet.
Thursday, August 7th:
7:00 p.m.: Live music at Mac’s Bar in Downtown Mountain Iron.
Friday, August 8th: ACTIVITIES HELD DOWNTOWN MOUNTAIN IRON (OLDTOWN)
5:00 p.m.: CASH BINGO at the Mtn. Iron Senior Center.
4:30 – 6:00 p.m.: REGISTRATION for Moonlight Bean Bag Games at the American Legion. Registration fee: $20 per team/Limit 64 teams. Call Brian Miller or Sally at 750-7219 for information.
6:00 p.m.: MOONLIGHT BEAN BAG TOURNAMENT begins at the American Legion begins.
7:00 – midnight.: TWO live bands will perform on the Main Street stage.
Saturday, August 9th; ACTIVITIES HELD DOWNTOWN MOUNTAIN IRON (OLDTOWN)
8:00 a.m. – Noon: PANCAKE BREAKFAST at the Senior Center sponsored by the Lions Club. Fee: $6.00
9:00 a.m.: B.G.’s WOODEN BAT SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT begins and will continue through Sunday, August 10th. Games will be played at the South Grove Fields in Mtn. Iron. Call B.G.’s at 741-0512 to register.
8:00 – 9:00 a.m.: Registration for the 7th Annual Larry Nanti “Pick Your Pain” Walk/Run. Participants may select the following: 5K or 7K Walk or the 5K or 10K Run. Registration fee is $25. Call Sally Peterangelo at 735-8625 or 750-7219 for pre-registration/information. Event will be held rain or shine.
9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: 7th ANNUAL LARRY NANTI “PICK YOUR PAIN” WALK/RUN begins. Line-up will begin at the Mountain Iron Library and will go through various routes in South Grove and back to the Library.
Noon – Merritt Day’s CLASSIC CAR SHOW. Cars will be parked on Main Street.
12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: KIDS CORNER. Enjoy inflatable bouncers, dunk tanks, Amazing Charles Comedy & Magic Show. Duluth Zoo will have animals to learn about, crafts, games, pony rides for kids at the Downtown Park on Main Street.
1:00 – 3:00 p.m.: CASH BINGO at the Mountain Iron Senior Center.
4:00 p.m.: PARADE LINE-UP at the West end of Main Street.
4:30 p.m.: PARADE BEGINS. Call Marci at 410-3938 or Sally at 750-7219 to register.
1:00 p.m. – midnight: There will be a variety of live bands performing on the Main Street Stage such as award winning accordion player, MARIO, CHRISTOPHER DAVE HANSON BAND, PRESTON GUNDERSON, and VITAMIN BROWN, which will all lead up to the international band, LIVE, with such hits as I Alone, Lightning Crashes, Heaven and more.
STREET DANCES WILL BE HELD RAIN OR SHINE.
Support Merritt Day’s Events: Raffle Ticket are $20. Grand Prize: 2014 Polaris Ranger Crew EPS. First Prize is $1,000, Second Prize is $500. Tickets may be purchased at local businesses or from committee members.
