Mary McReynolds Appointed by Governor Dayton to Membership on the Minnesota State Arts Board

Mary McReynolds has been appointed by Governor Dayton to membership on the Minnesota State Arts Board.  McReynolds’ career in the public sector – at both the state and local level – has spanned four decades.  She has coupled that work with long involvement and leadership in the arts in both professional and volunteer roles including almost 20 years of affiliation with the Lyric Center for the Arts.

McReynolds, currently serves as Executive Director and the Lyric Center and coordinates The First Stage Gallery.  Previously, she was a Senior Planner for St. Louis County; a lab tech at 3M; an air quality technician for the Minnesota Department of Transportation; a planner for the City of Bloomington, Indiana; and a hydrologist and dam inventory specialist with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

She has served on numerous civic and nonprofit boards.  She is a member of the Bridge Daze organizing committee and chairs the Virginia Planning and Zoning Commission.  She served on the Virginia City Council from 2015-2017 and chaired the City’s Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.  In 2017, she received the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council’s Maddie Simons Arts Advocate Award, which is presented to an individual whose involvement in a project or program has substantially contributed to the arts in the Arrowhead region.

McReynolds has a Master’s Degree in Environmental Studies from Bemidji State Univeristy and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with minors in Biology and Music, also from Bemidji state.

The Minnesota State Arts Board is a state agency that stimulates and encourages the creation, performance, and appreciation of the arts in the state. McReynolds is representing Congressional district 8 and Legislative district 06B.
