Silver Lake Walking Trail and Floating Pier Ribbon Cutting Celebration

On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, the Laurentian Chamber of Commerce joined the City of Virginia and community members to celebrate the grand opening of the Silver Lake Walking Trail and Floating Pier. The highly anticipated project was unveiled with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking a significant enhancement to outdoor recreation in the region.

The highlight of the project is the stunning 1,800-foot floating pier, which connects seamlessly with the walking trail. Designed for accessibility and enjoyment, the new infrastructure invites residents and visitors to explore the natural beauty of Silver Lake in a whole new way. Future plans include adding lighting and amenities to further enhance the experience.

The project was a collaborative effort supported by over $442,000 in Regional Trails grants from the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation (IRRR). SEH served as project engineer, and MN Boardwalks expertly constructed the pier. The unveiling underscores the City of Virginia's commitment to enriching outdoor spaces for the community.

The Silver Lake Trail and Pier provide a new destination for walking, sightseeing, and connecting with nature - just in time for residents to enjoy this beautiful addition. Thank you to all the partners who brought this vision to life!
