On Monday, January 13th, we celebrated the ribbon cutting for Eye Clinic North's brand new location in Virginia, MN! Located in the Northgate Plaza, this event marked a significant milestone for a clinic with an impressive 95 years of operation.

The history of Eye Clinic North is truly remarkable. Dr. Matthew Sipola, OD, FAAO, continues the legacy of his grandfather and father, who both plated pivotal roles in advancing eye care on the Iron Range. His grandfather was the first to fit contact lenses in the region, and his father was the first to bring scanning laser technology to the Iron Range. Additionally, his father authored a bill allowing all optometrists in Minnesota to prescribe eye drops. Continuing this tradition of innovation, Eye Clinic North was the first to offer revolutionary in-office dry eye treatment last year.

The new Virginia location represents a major leap forward for the clinic. With more exam lanes, state-of-the-art equipment, a fully ADA-compliant facility, a much larger optical space, and an improved environment for staff, the new space allows Eye Clinic North to meet the growing demand for eye care. It also enhances their ability to assist local primary care, urgent care, and emergency departments.

In his remarks, Dr. Matthew Sipola, OD, FAAO highlighted the vision behind this new location, emphasizing how it will benefit both patients and the community. He also noted the clinic's strong partnerships with organizations that helped make this achievement possible, including Northland Foundation, First National Bank of Buhl, Frandsen Bank & Trust, Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency (AEOA), Walman Instruments/Walman Optical, Laurentian Chamber of Commerce, Bradley Interiors, and Northwoods Construction.

This ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by the Chamber's Ambassadors, was a momentous occasion. Eye Clinic North expressed their gratitude to their incredible staff and loyal patients who trust them with their eye care.

The Hibbing location also recently celebrated growth with a new office after outgrowing its previous space, further showcasing the clinic's commitment to serving the region with cutting-edge care.
